DIVA NEWS ARCHIVE -- JULY 2004

July 27, 2004 Robert and Evelyn Conley

A STARRWATCHER LABOR OF LOVE IS FINALLY HERE!

Please enjoy the lyric pages, sound samples and stories behind the songs for BACKFLIP!

Yeh, we know BACKFLIP came out in 2002. Uh-huh, we've heard the jibes, the nit-picking, the complaints -- "How come y'all don't have all the cool behind-the-scenes stuff on BACKFLIP?" Okay, we give. And then we give some more. It is our pleasure to finally present the complete BACKFLIP Backstory Collection. You can access the pages here -- and we know you'll find everything on these pages entertaining. Arigon went through her photo files and helped us select all of the book selections and approved all the copy accompanying the tracks. Additionally, there are clips of every one of the songs in MP3 and Real Audio. We've worked really hard to compile the info, so let us know what you think. We here at Starrwatcher are pretty darn proud of ourselves. [Above photo is the great Cherokee writer Robert J. Conley with his beautiful wife Evelyn. Robert wrote the book "Mountain Windsong."]

"EARTHSONGS" HAS BEEN BERRY, BERRY GOOD TO ARIGON! AYYY!

Gregg McVicar's syndicated radio show debuts brand new Arigon Starr material!

Gosh, we love "Earthsongs" here at Starrwatcher Online. On last week's program, there were songs from cool groups like Medicine Dream, Lila Downs and Mary Youngblood -- and of course -- an interview and new tracks from Arigon Starr. Gregg recorded an interview and "Kitchen Concert" late at night following the group's performance at the Grassroots Radio Conference near Santa Barbara. Nicholas Peters and Thaddeus Graham added some sweet drums and bass to Arigon's acoustic guitar and singing. If you were listening, the group performed "Trucker's Widow," "The Red Road," "Mountain Windsong," and "Please Do Not Touch The Indians." Arigon also announced the development of her one-woman show called "The Red Road," which is set in a Truck Stop. Check out the Earthsongs Archive to hear the interview. Be sure to drop the folks at Koahnic and Earthsongs a line to let them know how much you enjoyed the Arigon interview. [FYI -- those of you who live in the Southern California got a rare treat -- Arigon performed at the California Creek gathering in Plummer Park in West Hollywood. Arigon is pictured above with actor/singer/activist Floyd Westerman, author/poet/musician Joy Harjo and the California Muscogee Creek leader Eli Grayson.]
