Throw back your hair
Get rid of that tie
Give your TV
A big kiss goodbye

Your tribe needs leaders
Can’t do it alone
Time to win back
All that you own

You hear the call
Stand proud! Stand tall!

NDN Man Oh, NDN Man
Turn it around
And do what you can
There’s no tomorrow
Without a plan

Come out of the woods
Come out of the bar
Your sisters are wondering
Where you are

Get ready to work
It’s time to pitch in
Can’t win the victory
Til’ you begin

You hear the call
Stand proud! Stand tall!

One complaint from Indian women is the lack of participation by Indian men in getting the “work” of the people done. I’ve heard comments including “Whenever you see an organization trying to make changes, it’s always full of women. Indian men don’t seem to want to lend a hand.” Now, I know this isn’t true for ALL Indian men, but if any within the sound of my voice are still attached to their TV sets, they need to rise up and get busy!

FYI — the term “NDN” is shorthand for “Indian.”
